About the doctor

A clinician who teaches. A teacher who researches. A researcher who treats.

Dr. Manisha Rathi is a Pune-based physiotherapist whose practice sits at the meeting point of clinical care, academia and research. As a Professor of Physiotherapy at Dr. D. Y. Patil College of Physiotherapy, Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, Pune, she has spent her career training the next generation of physiotherapists while treating patients with the same rigour she brings to the classroom.

Her clinical focus spans women's health, geriatric rehabilitation, balance and fall prevention, and obesity & fitness — areas where thoughtful, measured, progressive care changes lives quietly but profoundly.

"Every joint has a range. Every person has a story. Good physiotherapy honours both."

Beyond the clinic, she is an active researcher with peer-reviewed publications on musculoskeletal pain, balance in overweight and obese individuals, women's health and outcome-measure validation — which means the care you receive is grounded in current evidence, not habit.

What treatment with Dr. Rathi looks like

Physiotherapy works when it's measured. Every plan follows the same honest sequence — assess, plan, treat, and prove the progress.

Detailed assessment

A full history and hands-on movement examination — posture, strength, joint range and balance — so treatment targets causes, not just symptoms.

Personal plan

Clear goals set with you: sessions needed, exercises involved, and what recovery will realistically look like week by week.

Guided treatment

One-to-one sessions combining manual therapy, therapeutic exercise and education — progressed at the pace your body earns.

Measured progress

Re-assessment against your baseline at every milestone, and a maintenance programme so results last beyond discharge.

Research & academics

Care backed by published evidence

Dr. Rathi's peer-reviewed work spans balance in obesity, chronic neck and back pain, women's health and the validation of patient-reported outcome measures. When she prescribes an exercise, there is usually a study — often her own — behind it.

FAQ

Common questions, answered plainly

Do I need a doctor's referral to see a physiotherapist?

No referral is required. You can book directly. If your condition needs medical investigation first, Dr. Rathi will guide you to the right specialist before starting therapy.

How long is a session, and how many will I need?

The first assessment takes about 45–60 minutes; follow-up sessions typically run 30–45 minutes. The number of sessions depends on your condition — you'll get an honest estimate in your plan after the first visit, and it's reviewed as you progress.

What should I bring or wear to my first appointment?

Wear comfortable clothing that allows movement, and bring any recent reports, X-rays, MRI scans or prescriptions related to your condition.

Is women's health physiotherapy conducted privately?

Yes. All women's health consultations — including pelvic floor assessment — are conducted one-to-one in a private setting, with every step explained and consented before it happens.

Do you offer online consultations?

Yes. Tele-rehabilitation video consultations are available for follow-ups, home-exercise supervision and for patients outside Pune. Some conditions still need an in-person assessment first — this is confirmed when you book.
